Biography


Flavia Messinese is a guitarist, composer and teacher based in Catania, Sicily.After high school she enlisted in the Italian army, after finishing her service she began her musical studies in modern guitar.
After 2 years of studies and militancy in various local bands, in 2017 she passed the admission tests in jazz guitar at the "T.Schipa" conservatory in Lecce.
In 2018 she follows the Trinity 8 level in Pop-Rock Guitar; she participates in Umbria Jazz and collected a scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
In September she moved to Germany to attend an academic year in the JRP department of the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hanover; after 1 month in Germany she won a competition organized by Sony for the project "Play by Dave Grohl" Music Camp in Berlin, a campus reserved for 6 musicians under 25 chosen throughout Germany and which will see the involvement of the leader of the Foo Fighters .
In 2019 she is called to Berlin to be part of the “Gay Guerrilla Girls / Julius Eastman” project directed by Maya Shenfeld with arrangements by Dustin Hurt.
In May she wins a scholarship from the Berlin BIMM which she will give up to return to Italy and complete her studies in the conservatory.
In the summer of the same year she collaborated with Samuel Storm, finalist of XFactor 2017, and with Antonio Marra, current drummer of Carmen Consoli, in the group In Essence.
She graduated in jazz guitar in May 2021 and in the same period she joined the Musicoff Young project, obtaining the scholarship announced in December 2022.
She currently lives in Catania where she collaborates with several local bands (Coraline, Seltz, E-Li-Sa, Outatime, Domenico Prezioso) and continues her studies in pop rock guitar at the "Tchaikovsky" conservatory of Nocera Terinese with Ciro Manna.
